Monstera Deliciosa is a classic tropical houseplant known for its large, glossy green leaves that develop natural splits and holes as the plant matures. Its bold foliage and climbing growth habit make it a beautiful statement plant for living rooms, offices, plant corners, and bright indoor spaces.
The proper botanical name is Monstera deliciosa. It may also be sold as Split Leaf Monstera, Swiss Cheese Plant, or Monstera.
Care
Monstera Deliciosa does best in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but brighter filtered light helps support larger leaves, stronger growth, and better fenestration. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Water thoroughly when the top inch or two of soil feels dry and allow water to drain. Monstera prefer lightly moist soil, but they do not like sitting in wet soil, so avoid watering too frequently.
Use a well-draining, chunky potting mix and a pot with drainage. A mix with houseplant soil, orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir works well.
Monstera Deliciosa prefers warm temperatures and moderate to high humidity. Higher humidity can help support larger leaves and healthier growth. Keep it away from cold drafts, heating vents, and air conditioning.
This plant likes to climb as it matures. A moss pole, plank, or trellis can help encourage larger leaves, stronger growth, and more mature fenestration.
