Description
Alocasia ‘Regal Shield’ is a bold tropical houseplant known for its large, shield-shaped leaves and dramatic coloring. The foliage has deep green to dark purple tones on top with rich burgundy undersides, giving the plant a strong architectural look. Its upright growth habit makes it a beautiful statement plant for bright rooms, floor planters, plant stands, and tropical plant collections.
Light Requirements
For best growth, place Alocasia ‘Regal Shield’ in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but brighter indirect light will help support larger leaves and stronger growth. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
Watering
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Use a chunky, well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage to help protect the roots. Alocasia prefer lightly moist soil, but they should not sit in standing water.
Temperature & Humidity
This plant prefers warm indoor temperatures and higher humidity. Keep it away from cold drafts, air vents, and temperatures below 60°F. Higher humidity will help support healthy foliage and reduce crispy leaf edges.
Pet Safety
Alocasia ‘Regal Shield’ is not considered pet-safe and can be toxic if ingested by cats or dogs. It is best to keep it out of reach of pets that may chew on plants.
Best For
Alocasia ‘Regal Shield’ is a great choice for plant owners who want a bold statement plant with large tropical leaves, dramatic color, and a strong indoor presence.
