Description
Crassula Jade ‘Variegated,’ also known as Variegated Jade Plant or Crassula ovata ‘Variegata’, is a classic succulent known for its thick, glossy leaves with soft green, cream, and pale yellow variegation. As it matures, it can develop sturdy, woody stems and a tree-like shape, giving it a beautiful bonsai-style look. Its bright foliage and low-water needs make it a great choice for sunny windowsills, desks, plant stands, succulent arrangements, and decorative pots.
Light Requirements
For best color and growth, place Variegated Jade in bright light. It can handle some direct sun, especially morning sun, but harsh afternoon sun should be introduced gradually to avoid scorching. Brighter light helps maintain stronger variegation and compact growth.
Watering
Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Variegated Jade stores water in its thick leaves and stems, so it prefers to stay on the dry side. Use a gritty, well-draining cactus or succulent mix and a pot with drainage to help prevent root rot. Water much less often during cooler months.
Temperature & Humidity
This plant prefers warm indoor temperatures, dry to average household humidity, and good airflow. Keep it away from cold drafts and temperatures below 50–55°F.
Pet Safety
Crassula Jade ‘Variegated’ is not considered pet-safe and can be toxic if ingested by cats or dogs. Keep it out of reach of pets and children.
Best For
Variegated Jade is best for succulent lovers, sunny windowsills, desks, decorative pots, and plant owners who want a low-water plant with bright variegated foliage and a classic tree-like shape.
