Donkey Tail Succulent
Donkey Tail Succulent is a trailing succulent known for its long, cascading stems covered in plump, blue-green leaves. Its unique texture and trailing growth habit make it a great choice for hanging baskets, shelves, plant stands, and bright indoor spaces.
The proper botanical name is Sedum morganianum. It may also be sold as Burro’s Tail, Donkey’s Tail, or Burro Tail Succulent.
Care
Donkey Tail Succulent does best in bright, indirect light to gentle direct sun. A bright window with morning sun works well. Avoid harsh afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry and allow water to drain. Donkey Tail stores water in its thick leaves, so it prefers to dry out fully between waterings. Avoid watering too frequently.
Use a very well-draining cactus or succulent mix and a pot with drainage. Adding pumice, perlite, or coarse sand can help improve drainage.
Donkey Tail prefers warm temperatures, bright light, and dry to average indoor humidity. Keep it away from cold drafts, heating vents, and air conditioning.
The leaves are delicate and can fall off easily when bumped or moved. Place it somewhere it can trail freely without being handled often. Dropped leaves can often be propagated into new plants.
