Peperomia Lemon Lime is a colorful, compact houseplant prized for its bright foliage striped and splashed with shades of lime green, yellow, cream, and deeper green. Its fresh citrus-inspired coloring adds brightness to a plant collection while maintaining the easy-care nature associated with Peperomias. Its relatively small size makes it especially well suited for shelves, desktops, windowsills, and smaller indoor spaces.
Plants sold as Peperomia ‘Lemon Lime’ are cultivated for their distinctive yellow and lime-green variegation. The name is used in the houseplant trade for brightly variegated Peperomia selections, so the exact appearance and growth habit can vary somewhat depending on the plant being offered. It belongs to the Peperomia genus, a large group of tropical plants known for their ornamental foliage and compact growth.
Peperomia Lemon Lime does best in medium to bright, indirect light. Brighter filtered light helps maintain its vibrant yellow and lime coloration and encourages compact growth. It can tolerate somewhat lower light, but the foliage may become greener and growth may slow. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the lighter portions of the leaves.
Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Its fleshy foliage and stems store some moisture, so it generally tolerates slight dryness better than consistently wet soil. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root or stem rot.
Use a light, airy and well-draining potting mix in a container with drainage. A mixture containing quality houseplant soil or coco coir with perlite, pumice, and fine orchid bark works well. Peperomia roots appreciate good airflow and should not remain in dense, saturated soil.
Peperomia Lemon Lime prefers warm temperatures and moderate humidity. It adapts well to average household conditions and does not require exceptionally high humidity. Protect it from prolonged cold temperatures and cold drafts.
This Peperomia generally develops a compact, bushy growth habit. Pinching or pruning longer stems can help maintain a fuller shape, and healthy cuttings can be used for propagation. Mature plants may also produce slender flower spikes. These blooms are relatively understated, with the colorful foliage remaining the plant's main attraction.
Peperomia Lemon Lime is generally considered pet-friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs. As with any houseplant, consuming a large amount of plant material may still cause mild digestive upset, so discouraging pets from chewing on the foliage is recommended.
