Variegated String of Hearts, also known as Ceropegia woodii ‘Variegata’, is a delicate trailing houseplant known for its heart-shaped leaves with soft green, cream, white, and pink variegation. Its thin cascading vines make it a beautiful choice for hanging baskets, shelves, plant stands, and bright indoor spaces.
For best color and growth, place Variegated String of Hearts in bright, indirect light. Brighter indirect light helps maintain stronger variegation and can bring out more pink tones in the foliage. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. This plant stores moisture in its leaves and tubers, so it prefers to stay on the drier side. Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix and a pot with drainage to help prevent root rot.
This plant does well in average household humidity and prefers warm indoor temperatures. Keep it away from cold drafts, air vents, and temperatures below 60°F. Trimming the vines can help encourage fuller growth.
Variegated String of Hearts is a great choice for plant owners who want a low-maintenance trailing plant with soft color, delicate foliage, and a beautiful cascading habit.
