ZZ ‘Black,’ also commonly known as Raven ZZ Plant, is a striking low-maintenance houseplant known for its glossy foliage that matures to a deep purple-black color. New growth often emerges bright green before darkening over time, creating beautiful contrast on the plant. Its upright growth habit and bold coloring make it a great choice for desks, shelves, offices, and modern indoor spaces.
For best growth, place ZZ ‘Black’ in bright, indirect light. It can also tolerate medium to low light, making it a flexible option for many indoor spaces. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. ZZ plants store water in their thick rhizomes, so they prefer to stay on the dry side. Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage to help prevent root rot.
This plant does well in average household humidity and prefers warm indoor temperatures. Keep it away from cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F.
ZZ ‘Black’ is a great choice for plant owners who want a durable, drought-tolerant plant with dramatic dark foliage and easy-care needs.
