Alocasia Polly
Alocasia Polly is a bold tropical houseplant known for its dark green, arrow-shaped leaves with bright white veining and scalloped edges. Its dramatic foliage gives it a sculptural look, making it a standout plant for shelves, plant stands, and bright indoor spaces.
The proper botanical name is commonly listed as Alocasia × amazonica ‘Polly’. It is sometimes also sold as Alocasia Amazonica or African Mask Plant.
Care
Alocasia Polly does best in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but brighter filtered light helps support stronger growth and more defined leaf color. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Keep the soil lightly moist, but not soggy. Water when the top inch or two of soil feels dry. Alocasia like consistent moisture, but they are sensitive to overwatering and root rot.
Use a well-draining, chunky potting mix. A mix with houseplant soil, orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir works well.
Alocasia Polly prefers warm temperatures and higher humidity. Keep it away from cold drafts, heating vents, and air conditioning. Higher humidity can help reduce crispy edges.
This plant may go through a dormant period or drop older leaves when conditions change. This is common with Alocasia and does not always mean the plant is unhealthy, as long as the roots are healthy and new growth returns.
