The proper name is commonly listed as Begonia ‘Two Face’. It is a cultivated foliage Begonia selected for its distinctive coloration and patterned leaves. As with many specialty Begonia cultivars, leaf color and pattern can vary depending on the individual plant, maturity, and growing conditions.
Care
Begonia Two Face does best in bright, indirect light. Plenty of filtered light helps maintain its rich colors and contrasting leaf patterns. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage and cause fading.
Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil begins to feel dry and allow excess water to drain. Begonias prefer lightly and consistently moist soil but are sensitive to overwatering. Avoid allowing the potting mix to remain soggy, and try to keep excess water off the foliage.
Use a light, well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage. A mixture containing houseplant soil, perlite, coco coir, and a small amount of orchid bark works well, providing moisture retention while still allowing plenty of airflow around the roots.
Begonia Two Face prefers warm temperatures and moderate to high humidity. Additional humidity can help encourage lush growth and prevent crispy leaf edges, but good air circulation is important. Keep it away from cold drafts, heating vents, and air conditioning.
This plant has a compact, spreading growth habit and is grown primarily for its colorful foliage. Remove damaged or aging leaves as needed to encourage fresh growth and maintain its appearance. Small flowers may occasionally appear, but the dramatic leaves are the main attraction.
Pet Safety
Begonia Two Face is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Begonias contain soluble calcium oxalates, with the highest concentrations generally found in the underground portions of the plant. Keep it away from pets and small children.
