Epipremnum 'Neon Joy' is a vibrant tropical houseplant known for its brilliant lime-green foliage and cheerful, eye-catching coloration. Its glossy, heart-shaped leaves feature bright chartreuse and neon-green tones that bring a fresh pop of color to any indoor space. With its lush trailing growth habit and easygoing nature, 'Neon Joy' is an excellent choice for hanging baskets, shelves, decorative planters, and climbing displays. Its colorful foliage and adaptability make it a wonderful addition to both beginner and experienced plant collections.
Commonly sold as Epipremnum aureum 'Neon Joy', this plant belongs to the Araceae family and is part of the popular Pothos group. 'Neon Joy' is a horticultural trade name, and its exact cultivar identity may vary by grower. Like other Pothos varieties, it is valued for its attractive foliage, adaptable growth habit, and relatively simple care requirements.
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its vibrant neon-green coloration and encourage healthy growth. Can tolerate medium light conditions, although lower light may result in slower growth and less intense coloration. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Watering: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly, allowing excess water to drain away. Pothos plants are somewhat forgiving of occasional underwatering but are sensitive to consistently soggy soil. Reduce watering during cooler months.
Soil: Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix containing quality potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark or coco coir. The mixture should retain some moisture while allowing good airflow around the roots.
Temperature & Humidity: Thrives in temperatures between 65–85°F and appreciates moderate humidity, ideally 40–60% or higher. Adapts well to average household conditions but should be protected from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
Growth Habit: A moderately fast-growing tropical vine that produces glossy, heart-shaped leaves along flexible trailing stems. It can be grown in hanging baskets, allowed to cascade from shelves, or trained to climb a moss pole or trellis. Providing vertical support may encourage larger foliage as the plant matures. Occasional pruning helps maintain a fuller, bushier appearance.
Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Epipremnum plants contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that can cause oral irritation, excessive drooling, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing. Keep this plant out of reach of curious pets.
