Ficus ‘Burgundy,’ also known as Burgundy Rubber Tree, is a popular indoor plant known for its large, glossy leaves and deep green to burgundy-black coloring. New growth often emerges with rich red tones, adding extra contrast as the plant matures. Its bold foliage and upright growth habit make it a beautiful statement plant for homes, offices, entryways, and bright indoor spaces.
For best growth and color, place Ficus ‘Burgundy’ in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but brighter indirect light will help support fuller growth and deeper leaf color. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage to help prevent root issues. Ficus prefer consistent care but should not sit in standing water.
This plant prefers warm indoor temperatures and average household humidity. Keep it away from cold drafts, air vents, and temperatures below 60°F. Like many Ficus varieties, it may drop leaves if exposed to sudden changes in light, temperature, or watering.
Ficus ‘Burgundy’ is a great choice for plant owners who want a low-maintenance indoor tree with dramatic dark foliage and a clean, modern look.
