Ficus ‘Ruby,’ also known as Ficus elastica ‘Ruby’ or Ruby Rubber Tree, is a colorful indoor plant known for its glossy variegated foliage. Its leaves feature a mix of green, cream, pink, and red tones, giving the plant a bright, polished look. New growth often shows stronger pink and red coloring, making it a beautiful statement plant for homes, offices, entryways, and bright indoor spaces.
For best growth and color, place Ficus ‘Ruby’ in bright, indirect light. Brighter light helps maintain stronger variegation and more vibrant pink tones. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves, especially the lighter variegated areas.
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage to help prevent root issues. Ficus prefer consistent watering but should not sit in standing water.
This plant prefers warm indoor temperatures and average household humidity. Keep it away from cold drafts, air vents, and temperatures below 60°F. Like many Ficus varieties, it may drop leaves if exposed to sudden changes in light, temperature, or watering.
Ficus ‘Ruby’ is a great choice for plant owners who want a colorful, low-maintenance indoor tree with bold variegated foliage and a clean tropical look.
