Ficus ‘Tineke,’ also known as Ficus elastica ‘Tineke’ or Variegated Rubber Tree, is a popular indoor plant known for its large, glossy leaves with soft green, cream, and pale yellow variegation. New growth may show subtle pink tones, adding extra interest as the plant matures. Its upright growth habit and bright foliage make it a beautiful statement plant for homes, offices, entryways, and bright indoor spaces.
For best growth and color, place Ficus ‘Tineke’ in bright, indirect light. Brighter indirect light helps maintain stronger variegation and fuller growth. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the lighter areas of the leaves.
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage to help prevent root issues. Ficus prefer consistent watering but should not sit in standing water.
This plant prefers warm indoor temperatures and average household humidity. Keep it away from cold drafts, air vents, and temperatures below 60°F. Like many Ficus varieties, it may drop leaves if exposed to sudden changes in light, temperature, or watering.
Ficus ‘Tineke’ is a great choice for plant owners who want a low-maintenance indoor tree with soft variegated foliage and a clean, modern look.
