Hoya Imbricata is a unique tropical Hoya known for its round, shield-like leaves that grow flat against a surface. This shingling growth habit gives it a very different look from most trailing Hoyas, making it a standout choice for collectors, cork mounts, moss boards, plant cabinets, and humid indoor spaces.
The proper botanical name is Hoya imbricata.
Care
Hoya Imbricata does best in bright, indirect light. Brighter filtered light helps support healthy growth and may encourage blooming. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Water thoroughly when the top inch or two of the growing medium feels dry and allow water to drain. Hoya Imbricata likes moisture, but it should not sit wet for long periods, so avoid watering too frequently.
Use a well-draining, airy growing setup. This plant often does best mounted on cork bark, wood, or a moss board with sphagnum moss around the roots. If grown in a pot, use a chunky Hoya mix with orchid bark, perlite, coco coir, and a small amount of houseplant soil.
