Hoya Macrophylla Inner Variegated
Hoya Macrophylla Inner Variegated is a beautiful tropical Hoya known for its thick, waxy leaves with creamy yellow, light green, or white variegation through the center of the leaf. The darker green margins create strong contrast, giving the plant a bright, patterned look as it trails or climbs.
The proper botanical name is commonly listed as Hoya latifolia ‘Inner Variegated’. It may also be sold under the older name Hoya macrophylla inner variegated.
Care
Hoya Macrophylla Inner Variegated does best in bright, indirect light. Brighter filtered light helps support stronger growth, better variegation, and blooming. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves, especially the lighter variegated sections.
Water thoroughly when the top inch or two of soil feels dry and allow water to drain. Hoyas prefer to dry out a bit between waterings and do not like sitting in wet soil, so avoid watering too frequently.
Use a well-draining, airy potting mix and a pot with drainage. A mix with houseplant soil, orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir works well.
Hoya Macrophylla Inner Variegated prefers warm temperatures and moderate to high humidity. It can handle normal household humidity, but higher humidity can support fuller growth and healthier leaves. Keep it away from cold drafts, heating vents, and air conditioning.
This Hoya can trail or climb as it matures. A trellis works well for supporting larger leaves and fuller growth. Mature plants can produce clusters of fragrant flowers in bright indirect light. Avoid cutting off old bloom spurs, since Hoyas can rebloom from the same spots.
