Monstera 'Crème Brûlée' is a stunning tropical climbing plant prized for its dramatic creamy-white, buttery-yellow, and deep green variegation. Its large, glossy leaves feature beautiful marbled patterns and broad patches of pale coloration, creating a striking contrast that makes every leaf unique. As the plant matures, its foliage can develop the iconic splits and natural holes, known as fenestrations, that make Monsteras so recognizable. With its luxurious coloration and bold tropical appearance, 'Crème Brûlée' is a standout addition to any rare plant collection.
Botanically known as Monstera deliciosa 'Crème Brûlée', this plant is a highly variegated selection commonly associated with the Thai Constellation group. It is especially prized for its prominent cream and yellow variegation, although the amount and pattern of coloration can vary significantly between individual plants and new leaves.
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its beautiful cream and yellow variegation and encourage healthy growth. Because the lighter portions of the leaves contain less chlorophyll, adequate lighting is especially important. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the delicate variegated areas.
Watering: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly, allowing excess water to drain away. Avoid keeping the soil constantly wet, as overwatering can lead to root rot. Reduce watering during cooler months or periods of slower growth.
Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix containing orchid bark, perlite, coco coir, and quality potting soil. Excellent drainage and airflow around the roots are especially important for maintaining healthy growth.
Temperature & Humidity: Thrives in temperatures between 65–85°F and appreciates moderate to high humidity, ideally 50–70%. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F. Consistent humidity can help prevent browning along the lighter portions of the leaves.
Growth Habit: A climbing tropical aroid that develops larger, increasingly fenestrated leaves as it matures. Providing a moss pole, plank, or other sturdy support encourages upward growth and more mature foliage. Its cream, yellow, and green variegation varies from leaf to leaf, making each new leaf a unique display. Growth may be somewhat slower than greener Monstera varieties due to reduced chlorophyll in the variegated sections.
Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Monstera plants contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that can cause oral irritation, excessive drooling, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing. Keep this plant out of reach of curious pets.
