Philodendron 'White Princess Galaxy' is a stunning tropical houseplant prized for its elegant green foliage adorned with beautiful splashes, speckles, and streaks of bright white variegation. Its glossy, elongated leaves feature a striking mix of deep green and creamy white, creating a starry, galaxy-like appearance that makes every leaf unique. Some plants may also develop subtle pink accents along the stems or foliage, adding even more character to this highly sought-after variety. With its colorful foliage and upright growth habit, 'White Princess Galaxy' makes a beautiful statement in any rare plant collection.
Botanically known as Philodendron erubescens 'White Princess', this plant is commonly sold under the trade name 'White Princess Galaxy' to describe specimens with particularly prominent white speckling and marbled variegation. 'Galaxy' is a horticultural trade designation rather than a formally established botanical variety. The amount and pattern of white coloration can vary significantly between individual plants and new leaves.
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its beautiful white variegation and encourage healthy growth. Because the lighter portions of the leaves contain less chlorophyll, consistent lighting is especially important. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the delicate white areas.
Watering: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly, allowing excess water to drain away. Philodendrons prefer lightly moist soil during active growth but are sensitive to consistently soggy conditions. Reduce watering during cooler months.
Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix containing orchid bark, perlite, coco coir, and quality potting soil. The mixture should retain some moisture while providing excellent airflow around the roots.
Temperature & Humidity: Thrives in temperatures between 65–85°F and appreciates moderate to high humidity, ideally 50–70%. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F. Consistent humidity can help prevent browning along the white portions of the foliage.
Growth Habit: A slow to moderately growing tropical Philodendron with an upright, compact appearance when young. As it matures, it may develop a climbing habit and benefit from a moss pole, plank, or trellis for support. Its elongated, glossy leaves display varying patterns of white speckling, marbling, and sectoral variegation. Occasional pruning may help maintain an attractive shape, but avoid removing healthy green foliage, as it provides essential energy for continued growth.
Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Philodendrons contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that can cause oral irritation, excessive drooling, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing. Keep this plant out of reach of curious pets.
