Philodendron White Wizard Tricolor is a striking variegated tropical houseplant known for its glossy green leaves patterned with bright white, cream, and shades of mint or light green variegation. Each new leaf develops a unique combination of colors, with some displaying bold sectoral patches and others showing more marbled or speckled patterns. Its colorful foliage and climbing growth habit make it an excellent choice for collectors, moss poles, trellises, and bright indoor spaces.
The proper name is commonly listed as Philodendron ‘White Wizard Tricolor’. It is generally considered a selected form of White Wizard that displays multiple shades of green alongside its characteristic white variegation. Naming can vary between growers, and plants may also be sold as Tricolor White Wizard or simply White Wizard Tricolor.
Care
Philodendron White Wizard Tricolor does best in bright, indirect light. Plenty of filtered light helps maintain strong white and multicolored variegation while encouraging healthy growth. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the lighter portions of the leaves.
Water thoroughly when the top inch or two of soil feels dry and allow excess water to drain. Philodendrons prefer lightly moist soil during active growth but should not remain consistently wet. Avoid allowing the pot to sit in standing water, as overly wet conditions can lead to root rot.
Use a well-draining, chunky potting mix and a pot with drainage. A mixture containing houseplant soil, orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir works well and provides a good balance of moisture retention and airflow around the roots.
Philodendron White Wizard Tricolor prefers warm temperatures and moderate to high humidity. It can adapt to average household humidity, but additional humidity can encourage larger, healthier foliage. Keep it away from cold drafts, heating vents, and sudden temperature changes.
This plant has a climbing growth habit and benefits from a moss pole, coco pole, plank, or trellis. Providing support can encourage larger leaves and stronger mature growth. Variegation naturally varies from leaf to leaf, so some leaves may emerge with considerably more white, cream, or mint coloring than others.
Pet Safety
Philodendron White Wizard Tricolor is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Like other Philodendrons, it contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that can cause irritation of the mouth and digestive tract. Keep it away from pets and small children.
