Description
Sansevieria ‘Fernwood Mikado’ is a compact Snake Plant variety known for its narrow, upright cylindrical leaves and clean architectural shape. Its dark green foliage often has subtle lighter striping, giving it a modern, sculptural look. This hardy plant is a great choice for desks, shelves, offices, plant stands, small spaces, and low-maintenance indoor displays.
Light Requirements
Sansevieria ‘Fernwood Mikado’ can tolerate a wide range of light conditions, from low light to bright, indirect light. For best growth and stronger leaf color, place it in bright, indirect light. It can handle some direct sun, but harsh afternoon sun should be introduced gradually to avoid leaf scorch.
Watering
Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Sansevieria store moisture in their thick leaves and are very sensitive to overwatering. Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage to help prevent root rot. Water much less often during cooler months.
Temperature & Humidity
This plant does well in average household humidity and prefers warm indoor temperatures. Keep it away from cold drafts, air vents, and temperatures below 55–60°F.
Pet Safety
Sansevieria ‘Fernwood Mikado’ is not considered pet-safe and can be toxic if ingested by cats or dogs. Keep it out of reach of pets that like to chew on plants.
Best For
Sansevieria ‘Fernwood Mikado’ is best for beginner plant owners, offices, desks, small spaces, modern interiors, and anyone who wants a hardy, low-water plant with upright sculptural foliage.
