Sansevieria 'Snowflake' is a striking, compact snake plant known for its beautiful silvery-green foliage, soft white variegation, and subtle dark green markings. Its thick, upright leaves form an attractive rosette, giving it a clean, sculptural appearance that makes it perfect for desks, shelves, and small spaces. Like other snake plants, 'Snowflake' is exceptionally low-maintenance, making it an excellent choice for beginners and experienced plant collectors alike.
Sansevieria plants are now botanically classified under the genus Dracaena, although they are still widely sold under their familiar Sansevieria name. 'Snowflake' is a horticultural trade name.
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but tolerates medium to low light conditions. Brighter indirect light helps maintain its attractive silvery coloration. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh direct sunlight.
Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. Reduce watering during cooler months, as this plant is highly susceptible to root rot from overwatering.
Soil: Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix with added perlite or pumice to promote airflow and prevent excess moisture around the roots.
Temperature & Humidity: Thrives in temperatures between 60–85°F and adapts well to average household humidity. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F.
Growth Habit: A slow-growing, compact succulent that produces thick, upright leaves in a rosette formation. Its manageable size makes it ideal for tabletops, windowsills, and decorative planters. Occasional offsets may develop around the base as the plant matures.
Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Sansevieria contains saponins that can cause nausea, vomiting, and gastrointestinal upset. Keep this plant out of reach of curious pets.
