Trichocereus bridgesii f. monstrosa, commonly known as Penis Cactus, is a unique cactus variety known for its unusual upright growth and smooth, rounded stems. Its sculptural shape and blue-green coloring make it a standout choice for cactus collectors, sunny windows, and bright indoor spaces. This slow-growing cactus has a bold, minimal look and works well in decorative pots or mixed cactus collections.
For best growth, place Trichocereus bridgesii f. monstrosa in very bright light. It does best with several hours of direct sun each day, especially in a sunny window or under strong grow lights. If moving it into stronger sun, acclimate it gradually to prevent sunburn.
Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix and a pot with drainage. Water less often during cooler months when growth slows.
This cactus prefers warm temperatures and low to average humidity. Keep it away from cold drafts and temperatures below 50–60°F. Avoid overwatering, as this is the most common cause of root rot.
Trichocereus bridgesii f. monstrosa is a great choice for plant owners who want a low-maintenance, drought-tolerant cactus with a distinctive collector look.
