Variegated Anthurium Renaissance is a striking collector aroid prized for its large, glossy foliage patterned with cream, yellow, pale green, and white variegation. Its broad leaves often develop gently wavy or rippled edges, while the unpredictable variegation creates a different pattern on each new leaf. As the plant matures, its substantial foliage gives it a bold, tropical presence.
Commonly sold as Anthurium ‘Renaissance’ Variegated or Variegated Anthurium Renaissance, this is a cultivated Anthurium rather than a separate botanical species. The exact horticultural origins of plants sold under the Renaissance name are not consistently documented, so it is best treated as a named cultivar rather than assigning it to a specific Anthurium species. Variegation can naturally fluctuate between leaves.
Variegated Anthurium Renaissance does best in bright, indirect light. Its cream and white portions contain less chlorophyll, so plenty of filtered light helps support healthy growth and maintain attractive variegation. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the lighter portions of the foliage.
Water when the top inch or two of soil feels dry, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Anthuriums appreciate consistent moisture during active growth but should never remain soggy or waterlogged. Avoid allowing the root system to stay completely dry for extended periods.
Use a well-draining, chunky aroid potting mix in a container with excellent drainage. A combination of orchid bark, perlite or pumice, coco chips or coir, and a small amount of quality houseplant soil works well. The roots benefit from a mixture that retains some moisture while remaining loose and well aerated.
Variegated Anthurium Renaissance prefers warm temperatures and moderate to high humidity. Higher humidity can encourage larger, healthier foliage and help developing leaves unfurl properly. Good airflow is important, particularly when humidity levels are high.
This Anthurium develops an upright, self-heading growth habit, with new leaves emerging from a central stem. Mature foliage can become increasingly large under favorable conditions. Because the variegation is variable, individual leaves may emerge with dramatically different amounts of cream, white, yellow, or green. Avoid removing healthy green portions simply to increase variegation, as those areas provide the plant with the chlorophyll needed for strong growth.
Variegated Anthurium Renaissance is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Like other Anthuriums, it contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that can cause irritation of the mouth, tongue, and lips, along with drooling, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing. Keep it out of reach of pets and small children.
