Begonia Harmony’s Confetti is a colorful foliage Begonia prized for its intricately patterned leaves and confetti-like splashes of contrasting color. Its foliage can display a mix of green, silver, pink, red, burgundy, and darker tones, creating a layered, almost painted appearance. The combination of colorful markings and compact growth makes Harmony’s Confetti an excellent choice for shelves, plant cabinets, terrariums, and specialty Begonia collections.
The plant is commonly sold as Begonia ‘Harmony’s Confetti’ or Harmony’s Confetti Begonia. It is a cultivated ornamental Begonia grown primarily for its decorative foliage. The exact balance and intensity of its colors can vary as individual leaves mature and in response to light, temperature, humidity, and other growing conditions.
Care
Begonia Harmony’s Confetti does best in bright, indirect light. Good filtered light helps maintain its colorful markings and encourages compact, healthy growth. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage and damage its more delicate areas.
Water when the top inch of soil begins to feel dry, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. This Begonia prefers lightly and consistently moist soil during active growth but should never remain soggy or waterlogged. Avoid allowing the potting mix to stay completely dry for extended periods.
Use a light, airy and well-draining potting mix in a container with drainage. A mixture containing quality houseplant soil or coco coir, perlite or pumice, and fine orchid bark works well. This provides a good balance between moisture retention and airflow around the roots.
Begonia Harmony’s Confetti prefers warm temperatures and moderate to high humidity. Additional humidity can help maintain healthy foliage and reduce crispy leaf edges, but good airflow is equally important. Avoid allowing water to remain on the leaves for extended periods, particularly in enclosed or high-humidity growing environments.
This plant generally develops a compact, bushy to spreading growth habit and is grown primarily for its highly decorative foliage. Older or damaged leaves can be removed at the base to keep the plant looking its best. The coloration and patterning of new leaves may vary somewhat, giving the plant an evolving appearance as it grows.
Pet Safety
Begonia Harmony’s Confetti is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Begonias contain soluble oxalates that can cause irritation of the mouth and digestive tract, with the highest concentrations generally found in the underground portions of the plant. Keep it away from pets and small children.
