Curly Orchid Cactus
Curly Orchid Cactus is a tropical cactus known for its long, twisting, curly stems and unique trailing growth habit. Its sculptural foliage gives it a fun, unusual look, making it a great choice for hanging baskets, shelves, plant stands, and bright indoor spaces.
The proper botanical name is commonly listed as Epiphyllum guatemalense ‘Monstrose’. It may also be sold as Curly Orchid Cactus, Curly Locks Orchid Cactus, or Monstrose Orchid Cactus.
Care
Curly Orchid Cactus does best in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some gentle morning sun, but avoid harsh afternoon sun, which can scorch the stems.
Water thoroughly when the top inch or two of soil feels dry and allow water to drain. Curly Orchid Cactus likes more moisture than desert cacti, but it does not like sitting in wet soil, so avoid watering too frequently.
Use a well-draining, airy potting mix and a pot with drainage. A mix with houseplant soil, orchid bark, perlite, and a little coco coir works well.
Curly Orchid Cactus prefers warm temperatures and moderate humidity. Keep it away from cold drafts, heating vents, and air conditioning.
This plant can trail beautifully as it matures. It may also produce flowers when mature and grown in bright indirect light with consistent care.
