Description
Dracaena ‘Warneckii,’ also known as Dracaena deremensis ‘Warneckii’, is a classic upright houseplant known for its long, sword-like green leaves with white to silvery-gray striping. Its clean, structured look makes it a popular choice for offices, entryways, plant corners, decorative pots, and bright indoor spaces. It brings height and texture without needing constant attention, which is frankly more than can be said for most things.
Light Requirements
For best growth and color, place Dracaena ‘Warneckii’ in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium to lower light, but brighter indirect light will help maintain stronger striping and fuller growth. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Watering
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Dracaena ‘Warneckii’ prefers to dry slightly between waterings and does not like sitting in soggy soil. Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage to help prevent root rot. Dracaena can be sensitive to minerals in tap water, so filtered, distilled, or rainwater may help reduce brown leaf tips.
Temperature & Humidity
This plant does well in average household humidity and prefers warm indoor temperatures. Keep it away from cold drafts, air vents, and temperatures below 60°F.
Pet Safety
Dracaena ‘Warneckii’ is not considered pet-safe and can be toxic if ingested by cats or dogs. Keep it out of reach of pets and children.
Best For
Dracaena ‘Warneckii’ is best for offices, entryways, plant corners, decorative pots, and plant owners who want a low-maintenance upright houseplant with clean striped foliage and a modern tropical look.
