Epiphyllum anguliger, commonly known as Fishbone Cactus or Ric Rac Cactus, is a unique epiphytic cactus known for its long, zigzag-shaped stems. Unlike desert cacti, this plant naturally grows in tropical environments, so it prefers brighter indirect light and a bit more moisture than traditional cactus varieties. Its unusual trailing growth makes it a great choice for hanging baskets, shelves, and statement planters.
Light Requirements
For best growth, place Epiphyllum anguliger in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some gentle morning sun, but harsh afternoon sun may scorch the stems. Too little light can lead to slower growth and fewer blooms.
Watering
Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Fishbone Cactus likes more consistent moisture than desert cacti, but it should never sit in soggy soil.
