Description
Euphorbia lactea, commonly known as Candelabra Cactus, is a sculptural succulent known for its upright, branching growth and bold architectural shape. Although it is often called a cactus, it is technically a Euphorbia. Its ridged stems and dramatic form make it a great choice for bright windows, modern planters, cactus and succulent collections, and statement displays.
Light Requirements
Place Euphorbia lactea in very bright light. It can tolerate some direct sun, especially gentle morning sun, but strong afternoon sun should be introduced gradually to help prevent scorching. Bright light will support stronger growth and a more compact shape.
Watering
Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let all excess water drain away. Use a gritty, fast-draining cactus or succulent mix and avoid letting the plant sit in soggy soil. During cooler months or slower growth periods, water much less often.
Temperature & Humidity
This plant prefers warm temperatures, dry air, and good airflow. Keep it away from cold drafts and temperatures below 50–55°F. It does not need added humidity and is best suited for bright, dry indoor spaces.
