Description
Ficus ‘Ruby Tineke,’ also known as Ficus elastica ‘Ruby Tineke’ or Variegated Rubber Tree, is a colorful indoor plant known for its large, glossy leaves with green, cream, pink, and red variegation. New growth often shows brighter pink tones, while mature leaves develop softer cream and green patterns. Its upright growth habit and bold foliage make it a beautiful statement plant for homes, offices, entryways, and bright indoor spaces.
Light Requirements
For best color and growth, place Ficus ‘Ruby Tineke’ in bright, indirect light. Brighter indirect light helps maintain stronger variegation and pink coloring. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the lighter areas of the leaves.
Watering
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage to help prevent root issues. Ficus prefer consistent watering but should not sit in standing water.
Temperature & Humidity
This plant prefers warm indoor temperatures and average household humidity. Keep it away from cold drafts, air vents, and temperatures below 60°F. Like many Ficus varieties, it may drop leaves if exposed to sudden changes in light, temperature, or watering.
Pet Safety
Ficus ‘Ruby Tineke’ is not considered pet-safe and can be toxic if ingested by cats or dogs. The sap may also irritate skin, so handle with care when pruning or repotting.
Best For
Ficus ‘Ruby Tineke’ is a great choice for plant owners who want a colorful, low-maintenance indoor tree with bold variegated foliage and a clean, modern look.
