Description
Monstera aurea, also known as Monstera deliciosa ‘Aurea Variegata’ or Yellow Variegated Monstera, is a rare tropical houseplant known for its large green leaves with yellow to golden variegation. Each leaf develops its own unique pattern, ranging from soft marbling to bold sectoral patches. As the plant matures, the leaves can become larger and develop the classic Monstera splits and fenestrations.
Light Requirements
For best growth and variegation, place Monstera aurea in bright, indirect light. Brighter indirect light will help maintain stronger yellow variegation and support larger leaf growth. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves, especially the lighter variegated areas.
Watering
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Use a chunky, well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage to help prevent root issues. Monstera prefer lightly moist soil, but they should not sit in standing water.
